Live Classes With Other Muslim Girls
She can ask questions, exchange ideas, talk about what she’s writing, and enjoy learning alongside other Muslim girls like her!
Over six weeks, she’ll develop her own original short story, practice the skills that help her tell it well, and learn to approach writing as a Muslimah according to the Qur’an and authentic Sunnah.
I want the girls to enjoy themselves and look forward to our writing classes. We’ll learn together, ask questions, experiment with ideas, and work on stories of our own.
She can ask questions, exchange ideas, talk about what she’s writing, and enjoy learning alongside other Muslim girls like her!
Her journal gives her one place to collect story ideas, plan characters and scenes, and work through revisions. She can also use it to reflect on what she’s learning and how she’s growing as a Muslimah.
Writing prompts give her something new to try between classes and encourage her to keep writing. We’ll celebrate her progress with milestone badges throughout the program!
We’ll celebrate the girls’ work at our closing Story Showcase! Anyone who would like to share can read an excerpt or tell us about her story. Sharing is optional, and each girl will receive a participation certificate.
Being a Muslimah comes first, whether we’re writing stories or going about our everyday lives. I want the girls to learn principles from the Qur’an and authentic Sunnah that benefit them personally as they grow into young Muslim women.
We’ll talk about the importance of doing what is pleasing to Allah and how to tell an engaging story without praising or encouraging what He has forbidden. We’ll also learn to create realistic Muslim characters, including those who make mistakes, and discuss how to portray their decisions and consequences responsibly.
Of course, we’ll enjoy writing, too! We’ll try new ideas, learn writing skills, and develop our own stories while applying what we’ve studied throughout the program.

We'll begin with what it means to write as a Muslimah. Then, week by week, the girls will build their own characters, plan their plots, write scenes, and learn how to improve what they've written. Here's what they'll be working on!
We’ll begin with what it means to write as a Muslimah and the importance of choosing stories and words that are pleasing to Allah. We’ll explore examples from the Qur’an and authentic Sunnah.
A Muslim character needs more than a Muslim name or a hijab! She’ll create characters with personalities, motivations, strengths, and weaknesses, and try telling a scene from different points of view.
Where does her story take place? What does her character want, and what gets in the way? She’ll learn to connect these ideas into a plot, and we'll talk about how her characters might respond to difficulties, including what it means to place their trust in Allah.
She’ll put her characters into action! We’ll practice descriptions, natural dialogue, and scenes that help readers picture what’s taking place.
We’ll look at the scenes she’s written and try ways to improve them, including pacing, transitions, and possible endings. She’ll have time to make changes to her own story.
We’ll revisit our work, make final revisions, and celebrate the girls’ efforts during our closing Story Showcase. She can keep her journal and continue developing her story after the program.
I'll introduce the week's writing skill, show examples, and give the girls opportunities to ask questions, discuss what we're learning, and try it together!
We'll use what we studied on Sunday in our own writing. This is our time for activities, developing scenes and characters, sharing ideas, and getting help with our stories!
